Hi, I’m Mattias Färnstrand - illustrator and photographer based in The Kingdom of Sweden.

I was born in Sweden, but I’ve been fortunate to live and work extensively throughout Europe, North & South America, Africa and Asia.

I studied Fine Arts and Eastern & Western synthesis of humanities in the United States of America.

My visual art career spans illustrations and fine art, commercial photography, feature films, tv-series and reportage photography - ranging from Hollywood film productions to high fashion and extreme location reportage photography.

If I had to put my finger on what’s key in my own work, I’d say a strong narrative and curated sort of sentimentality. But that’s really for others to determine.

BIO

I started in front of the camera as a kid actor for stage and TV. During the 90’s and early 2000’s I became a prolific model on the catwalks of Paris, Milan and New York - and appeared in campaigns for designers such as Gucci, Versus Versace, Paul Smith, Kenneth Cole and Romeo Gigli.

I featured in editorials and covers of international magazines like French-, Italian-, American-, British- and L’uomo Vouge, Arena, Numero, Allure among others.

I got to work with the wonderful creatives of high fashion and my generations most prominent commercial, art & fashion photographers - such as Stephane Sedanoui, Mario Testino and Steven Meisel. My career behind camera started as a camera assistant in high fashion and commercial photography.
